Join an existing M3 project

You require an active project in order to access M3. Each M3 project has a unique ID like ab12, i.e. 2 lower-case letters followed by 2 digits. A project typically has a single Chief Investigator (CI), also known as a project leader. If your supervisor/collaborator has already provided you with a project code, follow the steps below to join it. If a project does not yet exist, then see Create a new M3 project.

1. Sign in to your personal Karaage page.
2. Click Join existing projects.
3. Type in your project's ID (e.g. ab12), and click "Search".
4. You should see your project appear in the search result below. Click on the left checkbox to select your project, and click "Submit".

You must then wait for your application to join the project to be processed:

1. Your project's leader must approve your request.
2. One of our admins must also approve your request.
3. Your account will be "provisioned" on M3 (this essentially means that your home directory is prepared for you).

Once all of the above has been completed, you should receive an email from our helpdesk with instructions for accessing M3. Contact our help desk if you have any issues joining an M3 project.
