Create your HPC ID account
If you already have access to M3 or MonARCH, you already have an HPC ID account! You can skip this page.
Before you can join a project on M3, you must first have an HPC ID account. This is distinct from your normal organisational account (e.g. my.name@monash.edu
) and has its own username and password. This page provides instructions for registering
- Go to https://hpc.erc.monash.edu.au/karaage/aafbootstrap.
- Search for your organisation, e.g. "Monash".

-
Once you've found your organisation, click "Continue to your organisation". You should then be redirected to your organisation's signin portal. For Monash emails, this is Okta.
-
Sign in to your organisation's using your normal username and password.
-
You may be asked for permission to access information provided by your organisation such as your name and e-mail. Click "Approve" (otherwise you cannot use M3).

-
If you are asked to login with or without AAF authentication, log in with AAF.
-
If you are asked to set your username, select any username from the drop-down list and click "Select".
-
You should now be presented with your Karaage home page. Click on the "Personal" tab.

- On your Personal page, click "Change password".

- On your password page, enter a new password (make it strong!) and click "Change my password".
Your HPC ID password is not the same as your normal organisational password. When you sign in to Karaage, use your normal credentials, but when you log into M3, use your HPC ID username and password (unless you're using Strudel, where you can use your organistation's normal authentication method like Okta or AAF).
You must never share your HPC ID password with anyone else. Do not share your password with any of your collaborators, and do not share your password with any M3 admins. An admin will never request you to share your password. Sharing your password breaches the M3 Terms of Use.
If you are found to have shared your password, your HPC ID account will be locked and you will lose access to M3. Depending on the severity of the breach, you may be reallowed access once you have changed your password.
You should now have an M3 user account! This is not enough to start using M3 though, as you must first join an M3 project. If you had any issues with this process, contact our help desk.
