Storage quotas
M3 does not have unlimited storage capacity. Therefore, we enforce storage quotas on the different filesystems. A storage quota is the maximum amount of disk space you can use on a given filesystem. The below table summarises the quota available to each user (in their home directory) and project (note each project gets its own quotas).
Directory | Default quota | Can you increase this? |
---|---|---|
Home ~ | 10 GB | No |
Project /projects/ab12 | 500 GB | Upon request |
Scratch2 /scratch2/ab12 | 3 TB | Upon request |
Requesting an increase
To request an increase in storage quota, please submit this form: https://tinyurl.com/massive-m3-quota-request. Please wait up to 2 weeks for your request to be processed.
As of 10 April 2025, we have retired the /fs03
file system that used to host /scratch
.
All your /scratch
folders have been migrated to:
/scratch2/<>
or if your project already has a /scratch2
allocation prior to April 2025,
we will migrate your /scratch
folder into a subdirectory oldscratch
within /scratch2/<>
to ensure there are no file conflicts.
